There are few monuments in the United States to the U.S. Servicemen who gave their lives in service during the U.S.- Mexican War. None on the mall in Washington, D.C. These are a few of the Mexican- American War Memorials from around the U.S.
Casualty rates for the war were staggering. Of the 104,556 men who served 13,780 never returned, a casualty rate of 13%.

I speculate there are few monuments as this war was blatant “land grab” from Mexico , a shameful part of our history. But for the soldier the politics and big picture are of little significance. The soldiers make the sacrifice no matter what the political and geographical dynamics and are guiltless. If more were erected today there would be abundant PC outrage from the left because of presence of millions of Mexican illegals and endless border crisis. When they protest they march with the Mexican flag. Are they taking their country back ?

We, Mexicans, should be able, some time in the future, to exert “JUSTICE” exactly as the same way as when a robber is caught and tried, the “JUSTICE” will eventually be applied and those robbed territories are going to be split appart from the US, this on demographic and ethnic grounds, whether Trump likes it or not! Unfortunately he is already too old to see this happen though…

That is a pretty high casualty rate, for sure. As I recall, Ullyses S. Grant fought in that war, and remarked later something about it being the most unjust war in history. Probably hyperbole, but it sure seems like a blatant land grab to me.
I find your post especially interesting, because in a few weeks I’m planning a series of posts on the U.S. conquest of California, which was part of the Mexican-American War.
