Trip To Austria: Vienna

SCHONBRUNN

Schönbrunn Palace

It was very cold when we visited Vienna. However, we had an excellent time.  While we enjoyed everything about the trip, these are pictures from three things we found special.

Setting on property acquired by the Emperor Maximillian II in 1569, Schönbrunn grew from a hunting property to the Hapsburg’s summer residence. When we visited the palace, an Easter Market was set-up near the entrance. Schönbrunn consists of 1,441 rooms containing art of all types. Unfortunately, photography is not allowed inside.

We visited in winter, so the gardens were not in full glory.

MARCHFELDERHOF

Marchfelderhof Restuarant

One of the best times I have ever had at dinner was at Marchfelderhof Restaurant. Fantastic food, exceptional staff,  and an amazing building. It doubles as a museum. This is how we were greeted! We visited on our 30th anniversary and the staff gifted us with a little something. Unfortunately, we accidentally left it behind. When we returned home Mrs. Present contacted the restaurant and they shipped the gift to us from Austria to the U.S. This is an amazing place.

A last minute add to our trip was a concert at Kursalon Hübner. This ended up being a highlight of the trip. The concert was amazing. Click the link and enjoy.

I love Vienna. A beautiful city and the Sacher Torte is the best!

In years gone by, we frequented a Viennese restaurant in Sarasota, Fl. Oh, how I’d enjoy a fine meal of Wiener-Schnitzel. A fine menu up and down, thanks for taking us along.

Looks like an amazing trip! We didn’t make it to Vienna when we were in Austria, but I’d love to go back and check it out 🙂

We went to Schonbrunn Palace, too, when the weather was cold. It was quite impressive.
